Bush at War Summary

The SQUEEZE: Bush at War recounts George W. Bush’s response to the September 11 attacks. Bob Woodward’s book also charts the activities that lead up to the subsequent war in Afghanistan. In Bush at War, Woodward particularly centers his discussion on the meetings held by the United States National Security Council (NSC) with heads of state such as President Bush, Dick Cheney, Colin Powell, George Tenet, and Condoleeza Rice. Woodward notes that the Bush Administration’s decision to go to war in Afghanistan was strategic and tactical. Although Woodward’s book garnered much praise and acclaim, it however was criticized for contributing to the growing rise of information and government leaks, which some believe might be harmful to national security. Bush at War is a must-read for both U.S. and international government leaders.

Notable Endorsement: “Woodward has produced the best book yet written about the September 11terrorist attacks on America and how Bush fought back.”—Steve Neal, Chicago Sun Times
