About the Author: Jack Welch
began his career with General Electric Company in 1960. In 1981, Welch became the company’s eighth Chairman and CEO. During his years at GE, Welch increased the company’s market share by $400 billion, becoming a valuable corporation. In 1999, Welch was named the “manager of the century” by Fortune Magazine. Retiring from GE in 2001, Welch later published his autobiography, “Jack: Straight from the Gut.” His current projects include teaching at MIT’s Sloan School of Management and speaking to business leaders across the world. Welch completed a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and a master’s and doctorate degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
